How wbu works

Four small steps. Nothing is shared unless you say so.

1. Check in your way

Talk or type. Typing opens a blank page with nothing to answer. When you talk, wbu splits what you said into topics, so you can share some parts and keep the rest.

2. Say how you are

Pick one of five: really happy, happy, neutral, sad or really sad. Add a feeling or two if you like, such as proud or tired. Your status is never scored, and it never sends anything to anyone.

3. Choose who hears what

Tick which topics go to which person or circle. Every check-in starts as "just for me" and is kept in full in My Diary. You can see who has seen what you shared, and take a part back.

4. They get the gist

The people you choose read a short summary labelled "Written by AI". It isn't your exact words. If you'd rather they heard you, send the check-in as a full voice note instead.

You see other people's check-ins once you've checked in yourself. A check-in just for you counts.

Looking back

Your calendar shows your days. Free keeps your last 7 days. Pro keeps all your history from the day you subscribe.

"I'm not OK", explained honestly

"I'm not OK" is its own button, a raised hand at the top of the screen. Choosing "really sad" on a check-in is different. A status never sends anything.

When you press "I'm not OK", and only then, it goes straight to the people you chose. It carries nothing from your diary. It's free for everyone, always.

wbu never contacts anyone for you, and that includes emergency services. It doesn't read your entries to decide how you are. It can't promise that someone will reply, and it isn't a replacement for support.

If you're in danger right now, call 999 in the UK, or your local emergency number. More on Talk to someone.

Linking and ages

People link by phone number, and only when both accept. Everyone has their own login, from age 13 (older in some countries). You only ever see what a person chooses to share with you.
